The Black Heroines: The Latin community, especially the women was well represented with the film “MOTHER” starring Jennifer Lopez. A great action, drama, suspense, and thriller. Over the years film and TV have tried to create that sexy heroines like those beauties of the past. Pam Grier, ‘Foxy Brown,’ the one who started it all. She and other women of the Blaxploitation era played a major role in creating this female action hero. We have yet to see an Afro-American sister come close to her staying power. In 2018 Proud Mary at this point is the last action movie representing Afro American women unless we’re talking about the “Woman King”. To date and I stand corrected if this is wrong once again “Proud Mary” is the last action movie featuring an afro American woman and we’re talking 2018. Denzel cannot have all the fun.
